Co-Founder and CEO of UpMeals, Drew Munro, named as one of Business in Vancouver’s Forty under 40 award recipients

We’re thrilled to share that Co-Founder and CEO of UpMeals, Drew Munro, has been recognized alongside notable business leaders across British Columbia as one of BIV’s 2021 Forty Under 40

For more than a quarter-century the BIV Forty under 40 awards have recognized entrepreneurs, executives and professionals under the age of 40 who have demonstrated excellence in business, judgment, leadership and community contribution.

“Being recognized with this group of professionals is a true honour,” said Drew Munro. “This is an esteemed list of people from many business verticals that have worked incredibly hard to get where they are today. I proudly congratulate all the people on this list and am humbled to be considered a peer amongst them.”

Throughout his career, Drew Munro has demonstrated a remarkable dedication to innovation, bold thinking, and a commitment to using technology to transform the food service industry for the better.

Munro’s first company, Drew’s Catering & Events, broke new ground in mastery and experimentation in its sector. The company was a trusted caterer and executed custom experiential events for brands including Facebook, Lamborghini, Deloitte, and Ferrari. They were also awarded the National Top Choice Award for Vancouver’s Best Caterer for five consecutive years, 2015-2019.

Through UpMeals, Munro launched an innovative platform to automate the creation of customized wellness programs via SmartVending machines. Munro successfully developed this product and service, partnering with TELUS within a year and a half for its first install. The SmartVending platform has received funding from the Canadian Government’s highly competitive NRC IRAP program. To get the company off the ground, Munro navigated an oversubscribed seed capital raise of $1.28M in the middle of a global pandemic.

Congratulations to Drew and the entire group of recipients.
